A brand new video!

It's been a few weeks since I made a video, and I was jonesing for a chance to do something new.

After getting all my catching up for work done by early afternoon, I realized that I'd be able to make it down to Norwalk in time to catch the Bush Legacy Bus. So I tossed my camera in the car and arrived at the Silver Star Diner a little before the bus.

You might recognize some familiar faces here; it was very good to see some old friends. I had a lot of fun making this video!

This is an excellent video Bob! I was kind of bummed that I couldn't make it, so I'm glad that you and the BFGL2 could make the trip.

Disclosure: I am the online organizer for Connecticut Citizen Action Group.

While you were away, your name (and spazeboy's) came up a couple of times on Colin McEnroe's blog in a post on what the Courant can do to survive ("Mother of Reinvention" - June 26, 2008)
McEnroe says:
"I'd make freelancing deals, right away, with some of the peppier bloggers -- especially the ones like Spazeboy and Connecticut Bob who have good video editing skills."

You're mentioned again in the ensuing brawl, er, discussion.

Also, don't miss McEnroe's post from last Thursday, July 3, titled "Five things newspapers don't get about blogs and stuff." Here he calls you and Spazeboy "the Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious of the CT 'sphere".
See what happens when you leave town.

You gotta love Colin, even if he IS way too generous with his awesome comparisons. Who wouldn't want to see their silly video exploits characterized as being similar to the adventures of perhaps the greatest punk band ever?

Jesus! I only WISH I was cool enough to deserve such lofty accolades!

Most times, I feel like I'm in "The Little Rascals", putting on a show for the neighborhood kids in a run-down barn. Not too cool maybe, but fun in its own way.

What was with the Brit? (second speaker) Shouldn't she be haranguing Boris Johnson or David Cameron?

Good video though - what kind of camera do you use? I've been thinking of investing in one in the near future but don't know much about the equipment.

Kate is an American citizen and a dedicated Democratic activist. And she's an awesome lady. As you surely know, not all Americans are native born.

Like John "Panama Jack" McCain, for instance. LOL!

I've been kind of a video nerd for years. I currently own a more advanced prosumer camera, the Canon GL-2. It goes for about $1600 these days. You might want to read Spazeboy's Guide to Video Blogging for tips on video.

He's got some suggestions for less expensive cameras. You almost can't go wrong with any mini-DV camera out there, as long as it has a mic input and a headphones output (these really are important, as you'll find out when you tape at live events).

If you have specific questions about video, feel free to ask them.

BTW Adam, I noticed that you have a link to my blog on your website, so I've included a link to your site on my sidebar, under the "Distinguished Adversaries" section.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Yeah, I think I'm going to start a bit smaller and work my way up to the pro-gear. Thanks for the advice though, I'll definitely check out Spazboy's guide! I appreciate the link as well - as long as we can all be friends after 5pm you can call me whatever you want.
