While the Republicans have tried several times over the years to influence the outcome of Democratic primaries to suit their wishes, I think a coordinated effort of this magnitude has never been attempted.
Which begs the question:
Why do the Republicans love Hillary?
Since early January, right-wing talkers like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity have encouraged Republican voters to cross party lines to vote for Clinton, or even in the case of states like Pennsylvania, which doesn't have an "open" primary, they've implored their target audience to switch party registration so they can vote for Hillary!
Just one day after Clinton's win in the Pennsylvania primary, the North Carolina GOP has released an anti-Obama television ad, featuring the words of scandalous Obama ex-pastor Jeremiah Wright. This ad is so inflammatory that even McCain felt compelled to speak out against it. Which, of course, has the added benefit of further publicizing the ad while making St. John look like a swell guy.
Which the NC GOP will ignore, and everyone gets to see the ad anyway!
But why bother wasting precious Republican dollars on an ad that will only have minimal effect on McCain's efforts, but may directly impact the Democratic primary with the hope that it will take votes AWAY from Barack Obama?
The only reason for this that I can see is that the Republicans are chomping at the bit to face Hillary in November. They are convinced they can much more easily defeat Clinton in the general election. The GOP knows Clinton has loads of baggage, which having spent so many years in Washington is very easy to accumulate.
They feel that their DC insider can beat another DC insider.
Barack Obama terrifies the GOP exactly because he's NOT the same as McCain. While Clinton is currently enjoying a post-win bump in fund raising, Obama consistantly draws an insane amount of support from regular people; just look at the crowds you see at any Obama rally. He outdraws Clinton every single time, because he generates hope and excitement. The Republicans can't possibly cope with that kind of popularity, so they're betting they'll do well against the one Democratic candidate who most closely resembles theirs.
This is why the GOP loves it some Hillary.

Plus, if she does somehow manage to get elected, she'll run a Republican-lite administration, just like Bill did. The big corps and entrenched interests have nothing to fear from her.
It's win/win for the repugs.

Dear Big Bob,
Geez man, sorry about leaving the caps on yesterday, and slinging slang, wow, you guys are tough in that State ! I saw the comments, maybe it's a small state v big state thing, usually with over a half a million a day hits, we sometimes have to talk in big letters because we have old and disabled people that have trouble reading our nonsense. Sorry slow turtle, and you guys, hey Bob that is amazing man you brought that guy down ? How did this guy ever get there in the first place? You are a good writer Bob, kind of like the guy who wrote the story on your comments section months back...
O.K. back to Lanny Davis.
See ya !
Clint Eastwood
That's right, Beavis. Huh huh huh huh-huh huh huh-huh!
OMG she reaches across the aisle and WORKS WITH OTHERS??? how horrible. I view this as a positive, and no I do NOT for a minute think this woman will cater to the Republicans whim if elected.
She's been to hell and back with the Republicans and everyone knows what her skeletons are. Obama's closet is still nailed shut, but not for long if he makes it to the GE.
And at least she can't be accused of PRESSING THE WRONG BUTTON (just what we need in the white house!)
Ctbob, I respect your opinion, but I think this post is grasping at straws. And as for the candidates.. I've said it before and I'll say it again.. Obama will be four years of MEH but boy will we hear inspirational speeches. Just don't look for comfortable Q&A with the press. Hopefully, four years after that .. we'll still be standing and the electorate will not be so fed up with the democratic party that another warmonger republican will wind up in office.
See you tomorrow in Kent? I'll be there in the throng.
Oh jesus...for a second there I thought you said "I'll be there in the thong!" That changed the meaning totally! LOL! I can't be there, I'll be in NYC for work; but give 'em hell for me.
The point of the article was simply "Why does the GOP love Hillary?" So far, I haven't heard any good explanations for the support of Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, the North Carolina GOP, and generally every other Republican in the known universe. It's an alarming situation, and I don't think it's because they necessarily agree with Hill's policies.
You really don't get it, we the right don't care who you lefties run in the fall, they will lose. We vote for Hill so that the Dem infighting continues, calling each other out, spending lots of $$$. The country is NOT ready for a black man ( as long as the mention reparations) and we can not stand a compulsive liar (Bush is NOT running). Look at the $$$ your two just spent in Pa.
By the way, who helped pick McCain in the early primaries? I think you Dems had a say in that.
You can tell that the repugs are in deep financial trouble. The quality of the concern trolls they employ has sunk down to cesspool level. Probably can only afford to pay these guys a penny a post. Getting their money's worth, too.
