Tim's take

"We still have a ways to go" Tim Tagaris 10:40pm

We are seriously in a holding pattern now -- supposition is that Lieberman not conceding. No new numbers, and people are starting to get annoyed. The D office holders are all in Hartford -- we have the people power here.

We still can't get a sense of the outside media here -- we really are isolated in a small room. We can't find Drudge's source for declaring Lamont the winner.

133 000 Lamont
125 000 Lieberman
with 92% of precincts

We are also getting word that we may be crashing the blogosphere -- hopefully we'll be able to stay on!

Bob,

How many votes are they expecting from Hartford???

If he doesn't concede before the papers go to print, he can use that to create the perception of a closer race and try to minimize the blow of the loss to his independent run.

The Courant confirms the numbers:
702 of 748 - 93.85%
Lamont, Ned Dem 134,942 51.65
Lieberman, Joe Dem 126,330 48.35

Lamont is 8600 botes ahead with only 6.15 of the precincts left.

About 17000 votes left and Lieberman would need 75% of them. No way.

CSPAN is switching to local coverage of the race @ 11PM EST.

According to the Courant, Hartford has reported and Lieberman lost by four points. Here are the numbers:

Hartford (23/23)
Lieberman 4,184 (48.40%)
Lamont 4,460 (51.60%)

Red Sox now down by two. Yankees have a runner on third, threatening to go up by two. Too much New England stress.

Why wait for the concession? Does Lamont have to wait? Fuck protocol - he should just declare his victory and give his beautiful speech!

The rumour is Lieberman won't concede but will announce his Independent bid -- probably using the closeness of this race as partial justification.

1.65/(1-.9385) = 26.8

Joe needs 76.8% of the remaining votes to win.

Courant says the following cities are not in yet:

Enfield
Haddam
Litchfield
S. Windsor

Anyone know which way they lean?

That means approx (128566+138836)*100/95.32 - (128566+138836) = 13128 votes are yet to be counted, with the margin currently standing at about 10000 votes.
