Sen. Dodd meets with bloggers

Chris Dodd's staff set up a meeting between the senator and local bloggers at the Playwright Pub in New Haven today to discuss the issues.

Bloggers representing My Left Nutmeg, the New Haven Independent/CT News Junkie, CT Local Politics, and of course, Connecticut Bob were in attendance. In the informal setting we were able to ask the senator questions and discuss his answers at length. The meeting lasted about an hour.

Tomorrow I'll hopefully have the complete video online, but for today I'm posting two short videos of Senator Dodd answering a question about his possible run in 2010, and accountability for the Bush era's policy of torturing enemy detainees.

Torture & the Rule of Law:

The 2010 Question:

The meeting was very informative and constuctive, and we look forward to continuing this sort of open dialogue with Sen. Dodd and all our elected officials.

Good job Bob!

You caught the essential Dodd on tape. Humble, honest, straightforward. Exceedingly likable...

I hope he finds a way to survive this perfect storm that's been brewing against him. My worry is that he's been in D.C. too long, and doesn't know how to hit the Populist button.

Me, I want to see Dodd buck the Establishment, (yeah, I'm talking about you Joe Biden, and you too, Evan Bayh), and take on the Credit Card industry with a Round Two, attempting to cap interest rates, and a Round Three, tackling interchange fees. (if Ethan Allen accepts MasterCard, their contract states that they can't offer a 2% cash discount.)

The best thing Dodd could do would be to force Senators to vote, for or against, the credit card companies' bottom lines. Which of his colleagues wants to defend interest charges of 25-30%? (there is a reason why 100 House Republicans voted in favor of Round One reforms, btw. No one wants to be seen as being on the side of the banks.)

fwiw. Despite a history of fighting for the working guy, Dodd needs to clearly show everyone whose side he's on.

Oh so he's schmoozing with liberal bloggers who can help get his lying a$$ re-elected?

Perhaps you should change your automessage to say "please leave your comment after you hear the dial tone"....

With opponents like these, who needs enemas?
