I just took this photo of a very rare conjunction of the Moon, Venus, and Jupiter about 15 minutes ago. If you get a chance, go outside RIGHT NOW and look to the west.
The show will probably be over by 8:00 tonight when the trio sets, and tomorrow the Moon will have moved off a ways, so tonight's the one chance to see it all.
However, Venus and Jupiter will still make a stunning pair for another week or so.

Thanks Bob! I got out there a couple of minutes after you posted the picture and caught a great view just before the planets were obscured by clouds. That is an awesome sight. Both my wife and daughter were suitably impressed.
Yeah, the clouds just moved back in here also.
It was mostly cloudy all afternoon, and I didn't think I'd catch it, but right after I posted the last article I noticed it was dark, so I peeked out the window. Then I grabbed the camera and fired off about 20 shots from the backyard.
If I had known I would have grabbed the kids and the telescope and headed outside for a little while to catch the scene.
FYI - you absolutely could have seen it well without the telescope; the entire spread was about 4 or 5 degrees across (about the size of your fist at arm's length). A simple pair of binoculars would have been plenty, although it was visually striking even to the unaided eye.
At least your kids will have a chance to see the next one, in 2052!
