ConnecticutBob.Com is a modest blog on the internet since 2006. Progressive ideas are encouraged, and all politically-minded and reasonable people are welcome. America is the greatest country in the world, but we'll invade you if you disagree.
The Connecticut blogosphere ages. The newly thoughtful, reflective Ct Bob seems, metaphorically, to have gray at his temples. By 2010 he'll be the Daniel Schorr of the nutmeg 'sphere.
Don't worry folks...he'll recover.

We had a rough night on Tuesday.
It was shocking to see the populace vote against their own economic interests, and dial back to the Republican-controlled era of the past 20 years minus 23 months.
There is silly talk going around in the comments of "newspaper" article about the Dems running young people, while ignoring that the GOP ran a 19 year old who has never served in any capacity.
There is another one today that spouts nonsense about "the voters went for experience" How is it experience when they vote out good, hardworking incumbents and elect mostly newbies and the ineffectual incumbents?
I am in Stage 2: Anger.
Oh wait...I just remembered...I am *always* in Stage 2
Hand count the votes, and see if the results agree with the official tally. This is totally feasible in a town election. By now we should be all be clamoring for this. Enough of the E-voting scam. Let's see some proof instead of lamenting.
Anonymous please come forth with your evidence that the election was tainted. This is a very serious charge, as the dems at the time controlled all but the mayors office it would be interesting to see how the vote was fradulant. In my opinion I think that the joke of a budget the CGA passed further worried people already concerned about their economic well being. Richard Roy lost to an unknown what else do you need to know?
Anonymous: here is the link that I believe will give you the tools necessary to file a complaint or report what you feel is election fraud here in Milford. http://www.ct.gov/seec/site/default.asp
Once again, there was no fraud. Unless it was a systematic reprogramming of the optical scanners by Diebold. Which, obviously, would become apparent during the mandatory audits later this month. I'm sure the audits will add up properly.
What we should be doing is figuring out WHY we got shellacked so badly and fix the REASONS it happened!
Dear CT Bob and others: We have a plan... and PS A commenter at New Haven Register identified Mike Brown, Rich Smith (DTC Chair for Milford) and lil ole me as "The Axis of Evil". We are embracing this but with the adaptation of "Asses of Evil", in honor of the Democratic Party's Donkey mascot.
Unemployment rate: 10.2% Prepare for many more results like tuesdays except now they will be statewide and national. More than even the economy in general, high unemployment changes everything in politics. Job loss or fear of job loss will always be the great uniter of the voters and deserved or not the party in power will suffer big time. It's still early but if this continues 2010 could make 1994 look like a minor road bump. I really believe the republican gains in CT locally are related to voters lack of confidence in Hartford and Washington's ability to create and protect jobs.

Tessa, at least you get to go to California soon to decompress, while I'm stuck here with the bends!
Sounds like a tea bagger had a bad day. Message deleted.

I tend to agree with you here. If the economy doesn't improve appreciably in the next 6 to 9 months, the Dems are in very deep shit nationally.
I only wish they'd start acting like they're aware of that fact!
