Harsh Realities

Correction: The Raw Story tonight posted that the video that was claimed to be of an Israeli attack appears to have been in error. The footage was actually taken on September 23, 2005 at the Jabalya refugee camp, described as a bombing of a parade that killed at least 15 Palestinians. Israel denied responsibility, and the ruling Palestinian Fatah blamed Hamas.

Normally, The Raw Story is very good about their reporting, but apparently they were duped by a false attribution. As bad as the tragedy and the video of it was, I'm at least somewhat relieved it didn't happen as a result of the current incursion.

But today's reports of the Israelis possibly using cluster munitions in populated civilian areas is very disturbing. I think I'll probably wait until there's a video with a "CNN" logo in the corner before I post it, however.

A lengthy list of unprovoked attacks against Israelis, mostly civilians.

According to the most senior Hamas member in Gaza, Mahmoud al Zahar, its time for step two:

Zahar said the process needs to continue -- until Jews also leave the entire West Bank and all of Israel.

"They are going to leave [Gaza], not because this is a gift from Israel. This is because they failed to confront our people, so don't describe their withdrawal from here...as a gift for the Palestinians," Zahar said in an interview at his home in Gaza. "This is because they are defeated here."

Hamas will never recognize the existence of a Jewish State in the region, said Zahar.

ACR - the difference is, Israel does this as a sovereign nation, as a member of the U.N., and as a regional power having full U.S. support and complicity.

Hamas is none of those.

Exactly!

They're f***ing terrorists!!

No, Raw Story is not usually good about their reporting. A simple google search would have made it obvious this video is 3 years old.

Is there no depth you clowns won't sink too to defend terrorists?

Good thinking seeing how the bs reports of the US using cluster munitions and phosporus weapons in Iraq widely reported on such reputable sites as Democratic Underground and Raw Story not to mention the libelous crap about US Marines massacring civilians in Iraq as that moron Murtha lied about have all proven to be false.

Don't you ever wonder why everything you idiots on the left say turns out to be flat wrong? Watch how your messiah falls from his alter in the next few months. Should be entertaining.

ive got more respect for you for correcting yourself. on a darker note, remember why israel and fatah wouldnt allow hamas at the negotiation table these past couple of years? they didnt do the simplest thing-- renounce violence, just in general.

FYI - When you anonymous people post comments, you can select the Name/URL option and simply type in any handle you prefer, no login or URL required, although a URL will link to a website if you want.

It would make it easier for me to keep track of who says what around here. I still won't know who you are, except by your handle. It's easy.

Otherwise, all you anonymouses look the same to me. thanks.

There have been so many Hoaxes perpatrated by the "palestinian" propaganda machine, you should know better.

But they have always been able to fool naive bleeding hearts like you

That is the problem in a nutshell.

Given their history, why would anyone believe Hamas, a terrorist organization, over Israel, the only nation in the world with a greater sense of religious freedom than even the United States?

It makes no sense to buy into the lies of Hamas.
