Memo to Harry Reid

TO: Harry Reid
FROM: Connecticut Progressives
RE: Joe LIEberman

It is time to tell Joey boy he has no options to consider. He is a worm, a traitor to the Democratic party, an opportunist whose hubris knows no bounds. The chickens have come home to roost. You need to tell him to go f%$k himself (John McCain or Dick Cheney can help him with that remark). No welcome in the Democratic caucus. No lunches with the old boys. And most important of all, no more chairmanship!

He's an Independent. There is no such thing as an Independent Democrat. Call his bluff after his outrageous behavior in this campaign. Time to exile him to the minority party -- out in the cold while the true Democrats sit inside and drink cocoa.

If he would go so far as to vote against what used to be his core principles (who knows what he stands for anymore -- other than his own ego) only to put a stick in the Democrats' eyes, so be it.

He needs to be made Mr. Irrelevant. A new administration with lots of newsmakers creating a Washington in which no one calls to book him on a Sunday show? My idea of heaven on earth.

Heh heh heh...we always post at the same time!

I put up a repost of the FDL effort to get the Steering Committee involved in the Joe Must Go movement, only a couple minutes after you posted this. We always seem to do that!

Anyway, I put it on hold, and I'll post it later.

so the dems used joe to get power in the senate, but now that there is a dem president, they want to kick him out. sick.

Yeah. Of course, the Republicans have never behaved in such a ruthless manner. Ass.

Find the last Republican senator who actively supported a Democratic Presidential candidate with no consequences, then you can bitch about us.

why should there be consequences?

Get used to it, buddy.

These aren't consequences, it's a matter of trust. The country has just voted twice that they are unhappy with the neoconservative foreign policy and war of Lieberman/Bush/McCain. We cannot trust him with a position of leadership on Homeland Security. It is yet another smack down of Lieberman by the American public, yet every time he loses he just decides to change the rules. The Rules never apply to him, he is above the rules.
The decent thing for Lieberman to do is resign his chairmanship.
Problem is, Lieberman has never done the decent thing.

"Lieberman has never done the decent thing." ...can you say exaggeration?

Not in at least the last eight years he hasn't, although I didn't care for him since his finger-wagging spectacle on the Senate floor during the Clinton impeachment.

you really dont care about global warming if you believe the first part of your response.

Any Democrat that replaces Lieberman will almost definitely be as strong or stronger than Lieberman on the global warming issue. And he won't try to torpedo the party while he's doing it. I'm willing to give it a shot.
