Got it on tv and radio much to my wifes dismay. Actually she likes baseball just not on the radio. Lets go Mets.

In case anyone was wondering, I am the Yankee fan here. Was a Met fan growing up (discovered baseball in 1969 when my teacher brought a TV in so we could watch the beginning of the game, then the switch to the ol' transistor radio on the bus till I got home).

At the rehearsal dinner before Mr. Kirby and I got married 22 years ago, he adopted my dog and signed the papers, and in return, I converted to be a Yankee fan. I had already started the transition after going to college in Syracuse, where the Yanks AAA affiliate was at the time. I will not break my leg trying to jump back on the Mets bandwagon now that they are doing well -- I have made my bed, and will have to lie in it.

Ah, it's always a sweet thing when the Mets win.

The Yankees, they're easy to root for. They're expected to win. They usually come through for their fans. When the Yankees win a game, their fans say, "Good, of course they should'a won."

The great thing about being a Mets fan, you go in EXPECTING them to lose. When they lose, you kind of shrug your shoulders and go, "Eh, whaddya expect? They're the METS!"

This makes winning especially sweet. And when they win a big thing, like the pennant, well hey...time for the scotch and cigars!

Woohooo!

I know how it is to be "a fan" -- so I'm happy for all of the Mets fans tonight! I lived in SF for 17 years and was a major SF Gaints fan and lived through some pretty crummy seasons as well. Never missed a game (either by radio, TV or at the Park) -- my husband and I even survived many night games at the old Candlestick Park. After I moved back to CT it was really tough giving up my obsession with the SFGaints and I just couldn't bond with any of the teams back here. So, Bob I can relate to your happiness, and Kirby I can relate to your disappointment because I've been on both sides throughout my passionate days of being a Gaints fan! Hey, maybe the SFGaints can win the “wildcard” spot and I’ll be able to see them play the Mets! Oh my. I can already feel the passion flowing through my veins again…..Go Gaints!!!! Sorry, Bob, I couldn’t resist!!! Anyway, it’s too late for me (and most likely the Gaints); I’ve already channeled my “compulsive obsessive disorder” to helping get Ned elected! Go Ned, Go METS!!!!!

If it helps Harriet, keep in mind that the NY Mets were created in part to fill the void when the NY baseball Giants left for the west coast. The orange in their logo and the lettering style is from the original NY Giants.

So it's OK if you want to root for the boys! :)

Well...Braves first and foremost [nuff said(?)]. But in AL, Sox yes; Red then white. Generally pull for NYM only over NYY. Still, I'm thrilled for Julio Franco; he is 11 months+8days OLDER THAN I AM [OMG!!] and still kicking ass both at the plate and on 1st base. He was on the ChiSox when we were there ['88-'90]. At this point, any and all Met success I can accept as good for Julio. Still a yuck for me on the clinch...

Also good to see Roberto succeeding; I've got this odd propensity to favor old guys... ;-)
