Ned Lamont on the Debates

Tonight Ned Lamont made an appearance at the Branford DTC, along with 3rd Congressional District Representative Rosa DeLauro, in a "Meet & Greet" that was well-stocked with pizzas and Democrats.

The Kiss Float put in an appearance, displaying Joe's shame as the $387,000 flies out of his bag of petty cash, completely unhindered by ethics or election laws.

Here's Ned answering a couple of my questions about the debates immediately after the meeting. Bonus points if you can if you can hear the point where I'm trying not to laugh as I ask a question.

(Hint: the real answer was "You goddamn sonovabitch", but Ned is way too classy to repeat that out loud.)

Holy crap - look at what is about to descend on CT. Joe is going to hold on to his seat no matter what it costs the other Dems candidates in CT. I feel like we're facing the Roman Legions.

Bloomberg Sends Troops to Help Lieberman

By DIANE CARDWELL
In his battle for re-election to the United States Senate without the backing of the Democratic Party, Joseph I. Lieberman is deploying a secret weapon in the race’s closing days: a sophisticated operation to identify and turn out voters, courtesy of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.

The Bloomberg group includes several top-level operatives who played key roles in the mayor’s decisive re-election last year or who are in the administration, and have taken leaves from their jobs to work on Mr. Lieberman’s campaign.

Since Mr. Lieberman lost the Democratic primary in Connecticut to Ned Lamont, they have helped open campaign offices, devised a strategy to reach voters and are corralling enough volunteers to cover 2,800 shifts at more than 700 polling sites on Election Day, Nov. 7.

How about an ad with this tagline...

Lobbyists for Lieberman.

Regular people for Lamont.

Would be fun to have a group of actors like Billionaires for Bush to follow the float or something.

Steve Gilliard perspective on Bloomberg's army...

(snip)

"Before flipping out, remember, Bloomberg had a massive GOTV campaign before and lost, and that was with party support. This is without party support and they're starting from scratch when Lamont's people have been on the ground for weeks.

Bloomberg is doing this for himself, make no mistake. Of course, his bloodless, arrogant style of leadership only appeals to Democrats who hate passion"

How much heavy handed outside support does he need to bring in to make the point to Joe loyalists that this man is not the people's choice, he's the corporate, billionaire, insiders' choice?

And are these the actions of a man 17 points ahead in the polls due to his undying popularity? I. Don't. Think. So.

I know races have become national, but the more heavily the balance of outside influences appear on this race, the more uncomfortable I become. Let's see how blind the media are.

dab, funny how Joe Lieberman criticizes Ned Lamont for using some of his personal wealth to finance his own campaign, but doesn't say a fucking word about Bloomberg, who spent a king's ransom to buy the Mayorship of NYC.

How many times does Lieberman have to prove he's a liar and a hypocrite before the MSM picks up on the fact?

Bob - I totally agree. I was stunned senseless last night by the sheer hypocrisy of what he's doing. Now I'm just in a rage (I've been canvassing and phonebanking every weekend for the past eight weeks)

I really do hope this ticks off CT voters. I mean, WTF??? Our voices mean nothing? Our hard work means nothing? Should this election be determined by an avalanche of Republican money funneling in from out of state - focused on crushing home grown CT efforts?

What really kills me is that because "Old Joe" is a friend and they don't want to piss him off - the Dem Party is going to allow him to negatively impact not just Ned, but also Farrell, Murphy, etc. - while sitting on their hands?

How is that a win/win for the Dem Party? I'd love an answer to that question from Big Bill.

So sorry, I thought Bloomberg was a Republican. Read and puke: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/28/nyregion/28bloomberg.html

teddysanfran, it's all too obvious to us what's going on here, but sadly the Lieberman brain trust wasn't totally off-base by going after the "low-information voters". These are the people Joe's staff identified as being the easiest to vote based on a sound bite or slogan rather than the actual issues.

Joe Lieberman is a modern day P.T. Barnum. But without any of the fun.
