As of July 1, film and digital media companies working in Connecticut can earn a 30 percent tax credit on qualified production costs, a move credited with bringing "In Bloom," to the state. Speaker of the House James A. Amann, who along with Gov. M. Jodi Rell backed the legislation, said businesses in Naugatuck made $3.2 million during the three days "War of the Worlds" shot there. Amann called the avalanche of interest the credit started "very exciting."
